County Fair Livestock that are being nominated for state shows – Deadline MAY 17th

         I. Request EID tags through online order form.

    1. Tag Order form (Found on the Shawnee County Website. EID tag orders must be summited with payment. Tags are $3.50 each.)

II. Once you have received the tags via mail, the exhibitor is responsible for tagging the left ear of the animal. If you do not own a livestock tagger, contact Haley Kelley. Guidelines for tagging animals is found here!

III. Once tag is in the left ear, take 3 photographs.

    1. Close up of the tag in the ear with tag numbers able to read
    2. side view of the animal with tag in ear
    3. picture of animal with exhibitor.

    1. EID tag number, breed, gender, ear notch or scrapie #
    2. Email must also include family name or exhibitor showing the animal

* If you do not receive the 4-H USDA Tag before the June 1 deadline, follow the “County Fair Only Animals” guidelines to submitting a virtual identification by May 17. Once the tag arrives, email Haley Kelley, with the information stated in steps 2-4 for “County Fair Animals that are being nominated for state shows”. All state show animals need to have proof of tag in ear by June 15th. Please only order tags for the animals you have. It is unlawful to keep any unused tags. Proof of tagging and completed nomination paperwork is needed before Extension staff will sign nomination paperwork. *

State Shows Only Livestock – Deadline JUNE 15

Livestock that will ONLY be shown at state shows, not at county fair. Visit the State Youth Livestock webpage for a list of livestock that need to be tagged for state shows. Tags will be mailed to those exhibitors who are then responsible for tagging.

         I. Request EID tags through order form. Order form closes June 1.

    1. Close up of the tag in the ear with tag numbers able to read,
    2. side view of the animal with tag in ear,
    3. picture of animal with exhibitor.

* You must plan ahead to order tags! If you order tags last minute, they will not arrive by the tagging deadline. If you are ordering EID tags please only order for the number of animals you are tagging. We are recording the tag numbers sent to you and if we do not get a picture of a tag number you were sent it will be invalidated and the bar codes will be thrown away. So, it will not work as a replacement tag after tagging. Proof of tagging and completed nomination paperwork is needed before Extension staff will sign nomination paperwork.*
