Painted Lady Butterfly Butterflies in the Classroom

Grade: Kindergarten –2nd       Cost: $8.25

Prices for 2023-2024 academic year

Approximate Date:  First Week of April

Standard: NGSS 1-LS1-1-2; 3-LS1-1

Program Includes: Butterfly cage, 3 Painted Lady butterfly larvae, flash-drive with all teaching information and handouts.

Teacher Provides: Daily observation and sugar water for butterflies once they emerge. 

 

Extension Staff can present a 5-10 minute talk to your class about what to expect over the 4 weeks it takes for the caterpillars to transform into butterflies upon request. The students will gain first-hand knowledge of insects and the process of development from a larva to an adult. They will also gain an understanding of what insects are and how they fit into our world.
